We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Police Dispatchers to join our dynamic team. If you are a seasoned professional with a strong background in emergency communications and police dispatch operations, we invite you to apply and become an integral part of our team as we help to save lives and protect property.

As an experienced Police Dispatcher, you will be assigned to one of our Dispatch teams and will play a crucial role in our emergency communications operations.  You will coordinate and dispatch police response and provide continuous updates to a variety of calls including high priority incidents that may be a risk to attending officers and/or the public via radio and/or CAD systems and other technology as required. You will support police operations by tactically analyzing events, providing continuous risk assessment, reviewing changing priorities and situations, and acquiring the necessary resources that are required to bring the call to a successful conclusion. You will also be responsible for the optimum use of resources through appropriate assessment of the reports received, geographical location, and resources available. In addition to dispatch duties, as a Police dispatcher, you will also be responsible for the emergency police call taking for E-Comm Partner police agencies.

This position demands quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with patience and composure.   Professional communication and collaboration with external partners, officers and NCO’s is a must.  

We have opportunities in both our Lower Mainland (Vancouver) and Vancouver Island (Saanich) locations and have full time and auxiliary opportunities available.

To be successful in this role, you bring the following:

  • A commitment to excellence in emergency communications and public safety
  • A minimum of 2 years in an emergency communication center with a minimum of 1 year of recent dispatching experience within British Columbia
  • Proficiency with CPIC, CAD, PRIME, radio and recording equipment and other relevant technologies
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response procedures and law enforcement protocols including the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, sound decisions
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Typing ability of 44wpm
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; additional courses in emergency communications would be an asset

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm.

The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 3 years.

To qualify for this process, a candidate may be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. We regret any candidates under Student, Visitor, or Work Visas are not eligible for consideration.
