We are looking for a Wireless Systems Engineer 1 to join our dynamic Wireless Operations & Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of complex wireless and technology systems that support our organization’s infrastructure and strategic goals.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team driving innovation in wireless systems. Reporting to the Manager, Wireless Operations and Engineering, this role offers the chance to work on high-impact projects, grow your technical expertise, and contribute to meaningful wireless infrastructure development.
As a Wireless Systems Engineer 1, you will:
- Support Systems Engineering Lifecycle: Assist in defining and applying systems engineering methodologies across the full lifecycle of technology projects—from concept development and requirements gathering to system design, verification, and implementation
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work as part of an interdisciplinary technical team, coordinating with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of wireless/RF, network, electrical, civil/mechanical, and software systems
- Develop Requirements & Architecture: Contribute to the development of system-level requirements and architecture for complex technology systems. Help translate functional needs into technical specifications and support the creation of project charters and documentation
- Prepare Technical Documentation: Draft specifications and contract documents for the procurement of major technology systems and construction work. Review technical documentation for accuracy and completeness, and support the development of engineering plans including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Facilitate Design Reviews & Decision-Making: Lead and participate in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle. Evaluate alternative solutions, make technical trade-offs, and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with project goals and technical standards
- Provide Technical Leadership & Issue Resolution: Act as a technical liaison between design disciplines, helping to resolve interface issues and ensure cohesive system integration. Provide guidance to non-engineering staff and escalate critical issues when necessary
- Support Project Execution: Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating technology systems programs and projects. Monitor progress, manage shifting priorities, and ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope
- Coach and Mentor Team Members: Offer technical coaching and support to project team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
What you will bring:
- Degree in engineering, Engineer in Training (EIT) or certified Professional Engineer (P Eng) or eligibility for certification in the Province of British Columbia, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and Project Management methodologies
- Experience with wireless communications networks and IP-based data networks
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and SharePoint
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and complex project lifecycles
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Security Requirements:
As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm.
Vaccination Requirements: E-Comm 911 has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
