Senior IT Business Analyst

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Senior IT Business Analyst to join our team.  This is an exciting opportunity to take your business analytical experience to the next level, as we transform the way deliver public safety communication services to the provide of British Columbia.

Reporting to the Manager, TS PMO, in the Technology Service department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Infrastructure Services Team as they mature and optimize their processes and governance. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses of business requirements and translating them into technical specifications, using a structured business analysis approach for each initiative. You will work closely with key stakeholders technical team, and architects to identify business needs and gather detailed requirements, develop project plans, analyze as-is and to-be states, prepare a variety of documentation and providing on-going support for services, programs and enterprise applications.

With a focus on relationship management, you will work in close collaboration with key stakeholders and partners, managing interactions with various groups whilst problem solving numerous issues at the same time.  Strong project management skills, a sense of ownership, and an enthusiasm for problem-solving will be key in executing projects efficiently. Exceptional communication skills are a must, as is the ability to deliver superior service to internal and external partners.

We are looking for someone with an analytical mindset who can determine business and technical requirements, define solutions, identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Partner with key stakeholders to define business objectives, assess project feasibility, and align outcomes with organizational and departmental needs
  • Engage with stakeholder to gather details business requirements, document processes, and translate into clear functional specifications for technical team
  • Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and align with industry best practices
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between business partners and Technology team, ensuring clear communication and understanding of requirements and proposed solutions
  • Create and maintain essential documentation, including business requirement documents, use cases, process flow diagrams, and regular status updates
  • Continuous improvement and innovation by staying current with industry standards and emerging technology to propose innovative solutions that support business growth and improve efficiency

Are you:

  • A professional Senior Business Analyst with demonstrated competencies executing with IIBA and/or PMI BA methodologies to deliver results.
  • An excellent communicator with considerable experience building relationships and presenting to a variety of audiences?
  • An expert with business process modelling and experience designing, implementing and supporting mission critical solutions.

What you will need:

  • Completion of a university degree or diploma in computer science, engineering or business with a technology focus, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Certificate in business analysis from the IIBA or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) will be considered a definite asset
  • 7 years’ experience in an IT Business Analyst or similar role
  • Certification in ITIL or similar service delivery framework is preferred
  • Required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm.  The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 5 years.

To qualify for this process, a candidate may be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. We regret any candidates under Student, Visitor, or Work Visas are not eligible for consideration.

  • Wage/Salary: PG29: $54.02 - $63.90 hourly / $112,361.60 - $132,912.00 (2024 rates)
